Ketch Secor
Story The Crow Told Me (Equal Housing Opportunity Records)
Ketch Secor is a merry ringmaster, passionate professor, modern Beat, and unassuming virtuoso. Secor’s debut solo album, described as a “coming-of-age saga” and a personal reflection on his 25 years in Nashville. With help from girlfriend Molly Tuttle plus Marty Stuart, Old Crow alums Critter Fuqua and Willie Watson. and an inevitable Old Crow influence, Story The Crow Told Me is looking to be a wonderful combination of old and new. “I’ve been in the game a long time,” Secor explains, “I do enjoy looking forward, but old-timey music is about simultaneously looking forward and backward at the same time. That’s why it’s a regressive art.”
The Wildmans
Longtime Friend (New West Records)
The Wildmans are a brother sister led band. The tale of this duo’s journey starts early when sister and brother Aila and Eli Wildman were at the mere ages of 5 and 7. The siblings were born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, a veritable hotbed of old-time, bluegrass and all ilks of mountain music. As they entered their teens, the siblings branched out to form their own band with a host of different bandmates and Eli sharing equal time on the guitar, eventually recording their first self-titled release and performing at festivals throughout the area. With their latest record, Longtime Friend, The Wildmans are showcasing their musicianship and honoring their craft while expanding and improvising on a base of traditional American roots music. This is the core of The Wildmans set and sound. (from press release)
