Luke Winslow-King
Coast of Light (Bloodshot Records)
Originally from Cadillac, Michigan, and now based in Spain, Winslow-King has built a reputation for blending blues, jazz, folk, and classical influences into a cinematic and emotionally direct sound. His songwriting and musicianship have earned praise from The New York Times, which noted that his music “seamlessly melds Delta blues, gospel and jazz themes with personal, simplified lyrics that speak to his personal and artistic evolution.” The album explores themes of life, death, hope, failure, and love while incorporating musical elements influenced by Spanish culture and flamenco traditions. The project is rooted in Winslow-King’s experience of discovering Cádiz and its artistic spirit, which he channels into what he describes as an impressionistic reflection of real life.
